Hp introduce their Revolve Family

HP has brought out a new range of laptops/tablets with their Revolve range.

Little has changed on the outside with these. They still feature the swivel hinge allowing this to change from a laptop to a tablet and instead of changing the size they have decided to keep the same dimensions and opt for a more robust design and material.

The second generation can house up to a dual-core, 2.1GHz Intel Core i7 4600U CPU with Intel HD Graphics 4400. Backing that are up to a whopping 12GB of DDR3 RAM at 1,600MHz and an SSD as spacious as 256GB.

The Third generation looks just as durable and stylish as its predecessors, and offers Broadwell punch in Core i3, i5 and i7 configurations ranging from 2.1 to 2.6GHz.

  • Sturdy and slightly magnesium chassis
  • Haswell powered
  • Swivel hinge hides keyboard well

  • Subpar display resolution
  • Little to no design changes
  • Still no storage for stylus

IBM leaves the x86 Server market

As of October 1st the anticipated deal worth over 2 billion dollars between Lenovo and Ibm was closed instantly propelling Lenovo in to the 3rd largest provider of x86-based server hardware, software and services.  In addition to this Lenovo will be looking to employ 6500 new colleagues across more than 60 countries.  Buying this server business compliments the company’s efforts to expand its own product base and will inherit the customers and brand whist in turn working to create its own new products for this audience.

IBM is effectively repeating history and getting out of the server market as it did with desktops and laptops rather than trying to compete with margins. The deal only covers IBM’s x86 server business and the company will retain control of its own power-based servers and hardware. Its research and development branch should be unaffected by this deal.

This in turn is freeing IBM from its long running relationship with Intel and allows them to focus on its software and service divisions.

x86 Market Share HP IBM CISCO DELL

This puts Lenovo in a position to compete with giants Hewlett-Packard and Dell and that they can grow their business venture in the same way that they did when IBM sold them the desktop and notepad PC business in 2005heir worldwide PC business.
